Welcome to - Little Frontier

Excited to share the first post on the topic of Little Frontier, my solo passion project: a single-player, story-driven RPG set in the American Frontier. I believe that the untamed era of America is an unexplored ground and a breath of fresh air, something that the RPG scene needs.

Why Mountain Men?

Most RPGs jump straight to ancient or medieval fantasy. 1830s—the Trapper/Mountain Men era remains almost untouched.

  • Tell our own frontier legends.
I didn’t want to retellold legends or established myths. Rather Little Frontier heavily borrows real life history and mixes it with carefully crafted lore.

  • Tell a grounded, emotional story.
Instead of swords and sorcery, Little Frontier focuses on a small human journey — a broken man trying to endure life on the edge of the wilderness. The story is intimate, personal, and driven by basic human emotions rather than grand heroics.

  • Slow burn RPG. In a world full of fast-paced multiplayer games, Little Frontier moves at its own pace. This is a slow-burn RPG, where you can live in the frontier on your own terms.
Take your time, notice the details, and enjoy the quiet struggles and small victories of life on the edge of civilization.

The RPG Vision

  1. A Trapper’s Journey & Growth
You begin as a modest frontiersman — a man surviving day by day. Over time you refine your aim, tracking, fishing, and craftwork.

  2. Family Within the Frontier
The bond between a man and his family is one part of a larger struggle. Their relationship sits inside something much bigger — the clash between man and wilderness, the slow advance of American politics into untamed land, and the harsh reality of survival at the edge of civilization.

  3. True Frontier Navigation
I wanted navigation to feel authentic — relying on landmarks and your own sense of direction rather than a glowing minimap. No towers, no auto-filled maps.

  4. Grounded, Realistic, but Not Tedious
The game strives for historical realism without becoming a chore. Despite the stylized aesthetic, I’m aiming for a world feels raw, believable, and alive.

  5. Emphasize exploration.
No markers, no waypoints, no POI maps. Players roam a vast 1830s American frontier .

  6. A Handcrafted World, Not a Survival Sandbox
The entire frontier is built by hand — every trail, ridge, and settlement is placed with intention. Little Frontier is an atmospheric, exploration-driven RPG, not a procedurally generated survival game. Hence, the focus is on story and world-building.
